History - It was in 1850 that the first Baptist Church was built in Neyland, named Hebron Baptist Chapel. In 1862, a second Baptist Chapel was built in 1863.

Owen Philips JP laid the foundation stone on the 28th April 1902, for Bethesda Chapel and this building, in which worship has continued to this day was officially opened for worship on Wednesday 14th October 1903.Past Ministers included the Rev T.L.Parry, the late Lord Gordon Parry's father, minister from 1929 to 1946.

In the 1930's,during the Depression there was a movement of people from the Valleys of South Wales to the "Settlements" which were built north of Neyland, and it was not unusual to see both Rev Parry and the ministers of adjoining chapels and churches, driving with horse and trap to these "Settlements" competing for respective congregations to attend their own chapels and churches!.

Numbers declined between 1969 and 1978, to only a few members, but quality not quantity saved the day.

With courage and conviction the Rev Steve Lee was called to Bethesda in June 2000, and under Rev Steve Lee's leadership and vision into the 21st Century, the congregation has grown to over 70, regularly sharing and caring for each other. It is a now growing house, and very much alive.

The church of Saint Clement’s Neyland, in St Clement’s Road, by the Library, was built in 1930, after the original wooden structure of 1899, blew down in the great gale of 1928.

This wooden building, the original St Clement’s is now used as the hall. It plays an important part in church life with ‘Alive & Kicking’ youngsters meeting there as well as the Mother’s Union, and Parish meals and socials.

The wider community uses it for badminton, and the Cardiac Exercise Club.

The Parish Church is in Llanstadwell, right by the water, and is called St Tudwal’s.

It can be easily picked out by its distinctive square tower. This building is open most days for anyone to walk in to pray, sit down or look around and appreciate the beauty that God has given to this part of the world. Do drop by; it’s worth the effort.

A Seaman’s Version of the Twenty-third Psalm

The Lord is my pilot, I shall not drift
He Lighteth me across the dark waters
He steereth me in steep channels
He keepeth my log book
He guideth me by the star of Holiness
For His Name’s sake
Yea, though I sail`mid the thunders and tempests of life,
I will dread no danger, for thou art with me,
Thy love and Thy care, they shelter me.
Thou preparest a harbour before me in the homeland of eternity.
Thou anointed the waves with oil - my ship rideth calmly.
Surely sunlight and starlight shall favour me on the journey I take,
And I will rest in the port of my God for ever.

Westgate Chapel

Salvation Army

Westgate ChapelWe have put this Web Site together to be a witness of the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. It also provides an opportunity for you to find out what Westgate Chapel is all about.

There are many sections in this Web Site providing information on such things as -
Why we meet together, what we believe, who we are and what we do.

We have also included such things as holiday attractions, including photographs, especially for those visiting the area.

Salvation ArmyFrequently asked questions! Perhaps it's those things you always wondered about The Salvation Army but never knew who or where to ask. You could be working on a project or a piece of student work. Perhaps you're seriously considering becoming more closely linked with the organisation and need to know more. Or maybe it's just a teasing question in a pub quiz.

Whatever the reason, we hope you'll find this feature helpful. A good place to start is the FAQs themselves listed below - or you could choose a topic from the list of Factsheets underneath them.

         Websites For Charities

Xalt

XaltWell - we are a large web site run by Christians. Our main aim is to help connect faith with life (and we include ourselves in that). Our site is also dedicated to building on-line community and you can read, chat or debate within our pages, as well as purchase the latest music, books and other products that are relevant to your life as a Christian living in todays world. As a web portal exalt provides international, national and local content – such as news, sport, business, lifestyle articles, features and resources with areas of the site hosted by members of our partner charities and causes. Another large part of what we do revolves around providing services and resources to make your life easier (including an accomodation/job search facility and an A-Z of organisations you may want to contact).

Bread

'BreadBread' is a non-profit making organisation which has a passion towards helping homeless people in the UK. We realise the complexity of the homeless situation in the UK and resolve to help by supporting the existing organisations who work directly with homeless people. The organisations that we seek to support are often known as day centres or night shelters. These organisations are particularly important for homeless people because of what they offer in the form of practical and long term help. We believe that by supporting the grass roots organisations we can have an immediate impact on homeless peoples lives.

but there are times I wish He didn't trust me with quite so much
