Welcome to our seasonal edition of the Bulletin. The year 2000 has come and gone in a flash and has proved to be a busy and successful year for all. We look forward to the New year with Great enthusiasm due to the expansion of our Outreach Service throughout the county.

We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year and look forward to continuing and expanding the service we provide into 2001.

LATEST VOLUNTEERING VACANCIES

Pembrokeshire Tenants Federation aim to promote the rights of tenants and residents in Pembrokeshire and to improve their housing conditions, amenities and environment. They need a Volunteer Clerical Assistant/ Minute Secretary at present based in Milford Haven.

Mencap Gateway Clubs provide social and leisure opportunities for people with learning disabilities (mainly adults). They currently have a vacancy for a Volunteer Helper who could offer time and friendship.

The British Heart Foundation is dedicated to supporting heart research in the UK. They have a Shop Assistant vacancy to work in their Haverfordwest shop. Duties include keeping displays neat and tidy, operating the till and giving customers help and advice.

SNAP CYMRU offers a free confidential and independent information and support service to families of children and young people who have special needs. They need volunteers for a few hours a week who are enthusiastic and are able to offer support and a listening ear. They are running a training program for volunteers, which starts in January 2001.

PAVS Volunteer Bureau wish to recruit a team of Volunteer Information Advisors. Your role will be to offer information and advice to potential volunteers within your own community. You will receive support, supervision and accredited training to enable you to assist in the development and expansion of the PAVS Volunteer Bureau Outreach service. If you live in Crymych, Fishguard, Haverfordwest, Letterston, Narberth, Pembroke, Hubberston, Pembroke Dock, St. David’s or Tenby and would you like to gain/improve your skills in information giving, call the PAVS Volunteer Bureau on 01437 779567 or 01437 796422 for information and an application pack.

Pembrokeshire GIG Association wishes to enable all in the community who so wish to assist and contribute to the local construction of an Atlantic Challenge GIG (replica 18th Century Longboat). They need volunteers to help with this project which will ultimately be used as a facility for the community of Pembrokeshire to develop expertise in traditional seamanship.
