Community School

schoollogoNeyland Community School.

In September 2006 Neyland Infant School and Neyland Junior School were amalgamated and became Neyland Community School.

In the future all our pupils will be accommodated in a new building on one site, but for the time being the school will operate on two sites.

We have 353 pupils and over 50 staff in the school. Our pupil age range is from 3 to 11.

Education changes very quickly these days because the world also changes quickly.

The generation in school now will find the world of work much changed from the one we are used to.

Many of the jobs we have now will not exist in the future and schools have a responsibility to make sure that our pupils have the skills and flexibility to deal with the 21st century workplace.

These days there is increased emphasis on information technology. We have ensured that every child in our school has access to up-to-date hardware and software.

We, along with other schools, focus on a skills based curriculum, where the ability to communicate effectively, solve problems and work with others is encouraged and developed.

Our pupils will also be the generation to feel the effects of climate change.

That is why there is an increased emphasis on sustainability – reduce, reuse and recycle.

We are an “Eco-School” and a “Health Promoting School”. Above all we want our school to be a happy place, one that is “people friendly” and strongly rooted in the community.

We would welcome the involvement of any community groups in the life of the school.

Likewise if any groups would like to contact the school, we would be happy to hear from you.

At the moment we are making sure that our school is equally accessible to all, those who are able bodied and those with a disability.

If as a member of the community you feel there is something we could do to increase access to the building or to information we send out, please do not hesitate to contact us.

As Head Teacher I am very proud to be part of a highly skilled and dedicated team. I also feel very privileged to work with the children of Neyland.
