born in Penydarren, but who moved to Uxbridge, Middlesex in 1936,and subsequenlt set up an engineering company employing almost 40 personnel.

1270 : Gilbert de Clare builds Morlais Castle

11478 : Small scale iron industry

1650 : Quakers Yard established

1759 : Dowlais Ironworks opened

1763 : Plymouth Ironworks opened

1765 : Cyfarthfa Ironworks opened

1784 : Penydarren Ironworks opened

1785 : Josiah Guest born

1790-94 : Watkin George constructed firstIron Girder Bridge in Modern World

1794 : Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff Canal completed and Richard Crawshay purchases Cyfarthfa Works.

1801 : Largest Town in Wales, population 8000

1802 : Lord Nelson visits Cyfarthfa

1803 : Penydarren Tramway opens with horse- drawn loads.

1804: Richard Trevithick invented steam engine to run on rails
