There is much talk in contemporary society of evidence-based policy. It is worth asking whose evidence and whose policy.

Gatsby's Trustees continue to follow the principles established by the Foundation's benefactor. They have selected nine fields of activity where there is scope for real public benefit from more effective application of resources. Within each area, they have followed lines of enquiry by funding the work of people with novel ideas about how to deliver some of those improved public benefits. In many cases, this has been through commissioning action research (practical experiments in a new approach) or by funding such schemes proposed by others.

GEN FOUNDATION
Supports research into science and humanities

The Gen Foundation is a charitable trust which supports the research and study of Natural Science and the Arts. The Foundation focuses on biological, chemical, and botanical science students/researchers, and exceptional candidates from language, music, and art.

In recognition of the importance of cross-cultural exchange in today's global society, we also aim to deepen understanding between Japan and the rest of the world.

GETTY TRUST, J PAUL
Supports opportunities for college undergraduates

The Getty Grant Program provides crucial support to institutions and individuals throughout the world in fields that are aligned most closely with the J. Paul Getty Trust's strategic priorities. It therefore funds a diverse range of projects that promote learning and scholarship about the history of the visual arts and the conservation of cultural heritage, and it consistently searches for collaborative efforts that set high standards and make significant contributions.

Groundswell promotes practical solutions, that involve homeless people, to tackling homelessness and social exclusion. Groundswell's work is about helping people to make informed choices about their lives and find solutions to their own problems. Homelessness can only be tackled by involving homeless people and by helping people to take control of their own lives.

GUGGENHEIM MEMORIAL FOUNDATION
Art Fellowship to assist research and artistic creation.

The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation provides fellowships for advanced professionals in all fields (natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, creative arts) except the performing arts.
